BCI, KPMG promote Business Continuity in India

MUMBAI, INDIA: The Business Continuity Institute ('BCI'), UK in association with KPMG in India, today announced the final winners of the BCI Continuity & Resilience (C&R) awards which were launched with the view to "Promote the Art and Science of Business Continuity Management" in India.

The awards were announced at a ceremony in Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Mumbai.

The BCI C&R Awards were first instituted in 2009 with the aim of recognizing significantly contributions of Business Continuity Management ('BCM').  These Awards are gaining in stature each year and this year saw enthusiastic participation by various individuals and organizations, said a press release.

Nitin Khanapurkar, executive director, Advisory Services, KPMG in India and also one of the judges of the Awards said, "This year we have noticed a significant improvement in BCM maturity levels among Indian companies. More and more organizations are recognizing the need for BCM and even going in for certifications like BS 25999.”

He further said that the demand for BCM professionals is picking up and organizations like BCI are playing a major role in promoting BCM in India.  It was a tough yet pleasant task of selecting the winners of the various Awards.

The winners included Tata Consultancy Services Limited (Most Effective Recovery of the Year), Indian Hotels Company Limited (Data Center Recovery Strategy of the Year), Omnitech InfoSolutions Limited (Specialist Business Continuity / Recovery Company), United Way Mumbai Help Line (Continuity & Recovery Initiative in Public Interest) and Lifesupporters Institute of Health Sciences, Eureka Forbes Limited and Lobzang Stanba (Special Recognition).
