Bangalore rises as the Startup Capital of India

BANGALORE, INDIA: Startup Festival, a 4-day mega-event that will unite thousands of people and over 100 partners under one brand to celebrate Bangalore's Rise as the Startup Capital of India was launched in the city today.

Set to begin on the 7th of March 2013, the objective of the festival is to make Bangalore = the Startup Capital of India.

Startup Festival - Bangalore is open to anybody who loves our garden city. This includes yet-to-be entrepreneurs, early stage startups and everyone part of the startup ecosystem, said a press release.

Speaking at the launch of The Startup Festival, Shashikiran, co-founder, Startup Festival, said, "Our vision is to build ecosystems and create a cultural."

"According to a recent report from the Startup Genome, Bangalore is currently ranked as the 19th city among world's leading hubs for start-ups; our ultimate goal is to get Bangalore among the top 10 cities in the world for start-ups," he said.

"The festival unites entrepreneurs, government, business, academia, investors, organizations and citizens to stitch together entrepreneurial ecosystem under one brand and one promise: to make Bangalore one of the premier global destinations for entrepreneurs," said another co-founder of Startup Festival Vlad Dubovskiy.,

Addressing the media at the launch, Gayathri Sharma, executive director, TiE Bangalore, added, "Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of empowering and giving back to the community, TiE's focus has always been on creating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs."

"We believe this festival could serve as a platform for aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike to more effectively engage and exchange with the larger entrepreneurial ecosystem here in the city," added Sharma.

Entry to fest

Keeping in mind how cash-strapped a startup can get, the entry for the festival is priced at Rs. 750 only till 25th February. A participant can log on to official website to purchase the ticket.

Interestingly, the ticket is a T-Shirt, which gives the wearer access to Startup Festival, added the press release.
