Bangalore to host VLSI conference

BANGALORE, INDIA: The 23rd International Conference on VLSI Design and the 9th International Conference on Embedded Systems will be held at the NIMHANS Convention Center in Bangalore from January 3 to 7, 2010.

Over 700 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate in this VLSI Conference in India, said a press release. The conference is expected to provide a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI design, electronic design automation (EDA), enabling technologies and embedded systems.

The first two days of the conference will feature full day tutorials by worldwide experts and the main technical program of the conference will be held on the following three days.

Dr. Biswadip Mitra, president and managing director, Texas Instruments India will inaugurate the conference on January 5, 2010.

The theme chosen for this year’s conference is “Affordable Technology for Emerging Markets”.

During the five-day conference, many distinguished personalities from the industry will take part in various sessions.

Srivaths Ravi, general co-chair of the conference and DFT Lead & Member, Group Technical Staff, Texas Instruments India said this year's theme has been motivated by today’s need for electronic designers to build not just cool gadgets, but also make them low-cost and pervasive for emerging markets and applications.

“Health care, connectivity, transport, e-governance, education and entertainment in developing economies are the major markets, where the right blend of technology and affordability can serve the social and economic needs of both consumers and industry alike,” he said.

Over 20 companies will showcase their products and solutions during the Conference. The conference this year will offer over 75 fellowships to students, researchers and faculty members working in the domains of VLSI and embedded systems.

This year, the conference will support virtual participation through ‘conference-to-your-desktop’, said Dr. Mahesh Mehendale, general co-chair and Texas Instruments Fellow and Director, Center of Excellence for Digital Video, Texas Instruments India.
