Balwa, Goenka denied permission to attend EGM

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The trial court of OP Saini has dismissed the petition of the promoters of DB Realty Vinod Goenka and Shahid Balwa.

Rejecting their plea on Friday, the CBI Special court also put a penalty of Rs 15,000 each on them. The decision came after the post-lunch proceedings of the court.

Earlier, Justice Saini reserved the order for today after the CBI raised apprehensions on Balwa's plea for permission to attend an extraordinary general body meeting of Etisalat DB, a joint venture between Balwa's DB Realty and UAE's Etisalat,on June 15 in Mumbai.

Both, Vinod Goenka and Shahid Balwa are in Tihar jail in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.

Earlier the day, DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV managing director Sharad Kumar had moved the Supreme Court to seek bail after their petitions were rejected by the Delhi High Court.
