Attack bid on Infy foiled

BANGALORE: Police officials have learnt that a suspected militant from Jammu and Kashmir who was arrested today had intended to attack the city’s IT services company Infosys and also the Bangalore airport.

HD Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister, Karnakata, revealed this to the media today. Based on a tip-off, a city-based police team stopped a private bus heading from Hospet at Jalahalli in the early hours on Friday and nabbed the suspected terrorist, who’s name is Imran alias Bilal.

Police uncovered an AK-47 assault rifle, 300 rounds of ammunition, four AK-47 magazines, SIM cards, a satellite phone and a few documents in his bag.

A case has been registered at the Yeshwantpur police station in Bangalore under the Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act. This incident comes just over a year after the December 28, 2005 terror strike at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore campus.
