HYDERABAD: Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD)
move

to pocket
Array Technologies Incorporated (ATI) has, without an iota of

doubt, stirred the industry.

While the outfits from Sunnyvale (California, USA) and Markham (Ontario, Canada)
amalgamate, there is every possibility of organizational and business alteration

whipping into shape.

Far-off in Hyderabad, which houses ATI's largest centre outside North America,
there is a man unperturbed by the development. Dasaradha R Gude, managing

director, ATI

Technologies India Private Limited
, is convinced that the development would

not be able to chip the Indian operation.

``I don't see changes to happen immediately. It takes 90-120 days to complete
the acquisition. Based on what picture we have there won't be an overlap in

terms of activities,'' says Gude.

Gude affirms that ATI India will carry on its expansion plans. ``We will
continue our expansion plans. There are no plans to discontinue our plans to

double the headcount,'' stated Gude.

ATI's strength in the Hyderabad is expected to touch 250 by the end of August.
The company plans to double the headcount within a year. Plans are also afoot to

add another facility in Bangalore.

Earlier in the year, Adrian Hartog, senior vice president, ATI Technologies
announced an investment of $ 50 million on the Hyderabad centre over a period of

five years. So far, ATI has invested more than $ 15 million on the Hyderabad

centre. The company launched its new 48,000 sq ft premises in April. The company

has also launched an advanced digital lab and audio centre inside its campus.

Last year ATI Technologies India Private Limited manufactured mobile handset
chips in excess of 100 million. The company also produced more than 100 million

chips in other segments. The Hyderabad centre develops chips 3D graphics and

visualization technology chips for X-Box 360 and Nintendo.

The Hyderabad centre was set up last year after ATI acquired CuTe Solutions.
CuTe was a manufacturer of advanced systems for digital audio recording and

playback using MP3 and other digital compression technologies.

The acquisition was completed in March 2005. Following the possession ATI
retained all the employees of CuTe Solutions. Prior to the acquisition ATI used

to outsource various works to the 1997-founded CuTe Solutions.
