NEW DELHI: Storage Networking Industry Association India (SNIA India), the apex storage networking industry body, has introduced seven new courses spearheading the education initiative for better information storage management in India.

In the first phase, the courses are being started at IIIT-B (Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore) at its campus in Electronic City. The course content will be in line with the SNIA guidelines and will prepare the attendees for a worldwide certification program.

To help professionals in getting SNIA certifications and creating a pool of storage networking experts, SNIA India also has plans to tie-up with more educational institutions of repute to run courses on storage networking or to become their technology partner.

The apex body is also looking at designing an end user course/certification for storage administration. The last date for applying has been extended to October 30 and the first course is scheduled for November 5 and November 6 on "Introduction to Network Storage" and on November 26 and November 27 on "Essentials of Storage Networking".

SNIA India treasurer Rahul Gupta said, "SNIA being a no cost - no profit organization, only nominal fees will be charged towards the royalty on specially procured course material. Overwhelming response to the initiative has forced us to limit the admission to controlled number of only 30 seats per course module and the selection will be on first come first served basis based on certain qualifying criteria".

Courses launched include Introduction to Network Storage, Essentials of Storage Networking, Technical Support Skills, Fiber Channel Essentials, Enterprise Backup & Recovery Management and Advanced Storage Management & Systems.
