TAIPEI, TAIWAN: To meet an out pouring demand in immersion-based systems, ASML, the Lithography equipment supplier is recruiting several hundreds of new staff and has rehired 700 of their previously redundant employees, according to Lucas van Grinsven, director of corporate and marketing communications.

The company would enhance nearly 300 workers more and thereby gratify the needs of the customers, he added.

Since consumer electronics and PC applications continues to have a demand for higher density chips, the director stated that he didn’t expect to see ASML customers again suffer from oversupply in 2010 and 2011.

According to ASML's financial statement for the first quarter of 2010, the lithography tool vendor had 28 NXT: 1950i systems in backlog before the end of the quarter.

The system is designed for 300mm (12-inch) wafer production built on the 32nm node and beyond. The company also disclosed that it expects to ship 11 in the current second quarter.
