ADB and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) have jointly organized ACEF since 2006, with the aim of sharing best practices in policy, technology, and finance to meet the region's climate and energy security challenges. This year they will be joined by the World Energy Council, the principal impartial global network of leaders and practitioners promoting an affordable, stable and environmentally sensitive energy system.

Every year, the Forum brings together hundreds of policymakers, project developers, investors, and technical experts from around the region for Asia's premier event on clean energy technology, policy, programs, and financing. In 2013, more than 640 high-level decision makers, investors, businesses and experts from 55 countries attended the Forum.

In 2014, ACEF will feature targeted, in-depth discussions in seven Thematic Tracks examining energy access, energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy finance, policy and regulation, clean energy technology, as well as a special track on the role and potential for natural gas in the region. ACEF is accepting abstracts for presentations on these topics until March 21 at 17:00 Manila time (+8 GMT).

In addition, the Forum is introducing a series of interactive Deep Dive Workshops designed to give participants in-depth knowledge on specific challenges in clean energy. Each workshop will be highly targeted, focusing on specific technologies or policy issues, such as municipal waste-to-energy or administrative barriers to renewable energy. The workshops will put a premium on participant involvement and interaction, and will aim to produce concrete outcomes that carry beyond the Forum.

Finally, this year's Forum will open with a Ministerial Dialogue, which will bring together key decision-makers from across the region to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the clean energy sector.
