APX Labs announces software platform for Smart Glasses

WASHINGTON, USA: Smart Glasses Software Maker APX Labs has just announced that the first enterprise software platform for Smart Glasses will be generally available in January 2014.

This platform, called Skylight provides a complete system that businesses of all types can use to create brand-new solutions to long-standing operational challenges.

"We are on the cusp of experiencing data and content overlaid onto our physical world like never before," states APX Labs CEO, Brian Ballard.

"For the first time ever, workers will be empowered by real-time data in a hands-free environment doing their day to day work. Google Glass, Epson and other manufacturers are building the most powerful of all wearable devices and they open up scenarios that were impossible before," added Ballard.

With Skylight, users can share video of their actual view with remote colleagues; they can continuously monitor important information; they can control devices, sensors and equipment remotely and hands-free; and they can efficiently find and track objects and people.

The use of smart glasses in the enterprise is expected to see faster adoption than consumer uptake of these devices.

"By our estimate 1 in 10 adults work in jobs that can be done better, safer and cheaper with smart glasses and the right software. These are the people who need real-time information and application access right at the point of work - head-up and hands-free," said Ed English, chief product officer of APX Labs.

Skylight is in use with multiple Fortune 500 companies in a private beta program, and will be released for general availability in January 2014.
