MUMBAI: The board of Indian computer education and software services firm,
Aptech, will meet on Friday to discuss a restructuring proposal aimed at
separating its two main businesses, the Bombay Stock Exchange said on Thursday.
In late February, the company - one of the country's largest computer
educators - asked a committee of directors to look into restructuring options.
At that time, Aptech's chairman Atul Nishar said the aim was to create a larger
software entity that would attract Fortune 1,000 clients.
The firm had asked the committee to study two main options.
One was merging unlisted software firm Hexaware Technologies - founded by
Nishar - and Aptech, and continuing to operate the software and training as
independent business units. The other option was spinning off the two businesses
into separately listed companies after the merger. The exchange's announcement
came after trading hours.
