Online real-time turn-based game genre involves two or more online players and the game play progressing in turns. The players are constantly engaged throughout the game session. Often each player is only given a limited amount of time (in seconds) to make their turns and such a ticker also adds to the excitement.

It's an alternate to asynchronous turn based games in which both the users don't need to be online together while the game play progresses in turns. The players make their moves at a time convenient to them and games can thus often even last for days. Such games can be built using Shephertz App42 cloud APIs.

AppWarp provides out of the box APIs for real-time turn based games. This eliminates the client-side effort required for distributed timer management, turn management and state management. The APIs are available on both the cloud and on-premise offerings of AppWarp.

On the cloud, the turn assignment is done in a fixed order and developers don't have the control to alter it and so is more suitable for 2 player turn based games. The on-premise offering allows developer full control to alter turn assignment (eg: ability to skip and repeat turns) and so is more suited for games with complex gameplay like 5-9 player online poker.

AppWarp supports one of the largest set of native SDKs i.e. iOS, Android, Wp8, Marmalade, Cocos2D, Cocos2DX, Unity3D, Corona, Xamarin, Flash, Java, J2ME and HTML5.
