BANGALORE, INDIA: The Application testing landscape in India has seen a paradigm shift in the last few years. Today software testing plays a very important role in the IT industry, growing at a rate far greater than the overall India IT industry. Some of this can be attributed to the increasingly large role testing plays in the software development lifecycle in ensuring a correlation between product quality and customer satisfaction. 

The industry has also become highly specialized today. The conventional approach to testing in being limited to defect tracking has now progressed to enhanced methods of predictability, anticipating defects, defect triggers and enhanced reporting. Today testing offers a certain degree of objectivity to any project.

Today India not only offers significant cost advantages but also a large talent pool of skilled professionals with experience in software testing. This, coupled with the fact that many vendors have evolved mature delivery models capable of moving a large quantum of work in testing to far shore locations like India has resulted in many customers increasing looking to India to outsource their testing requirements.  

Meanwhile the availability of skilled talent has also benefited the industry. Testing today is preferred by many as in independent career path in the IT industry.  People have consciously chosen this career path for many reasons that include increased focus, process adherence and the ability to play a vital role in ensuring quality to the customer, some of which conventional development work may lack.
