There’s now a reality show for app developers also, thanks to Apple. Let’s call it the Shark Tank for developers. The tech giant is all set to start shooting for its first reality TV show, ‘Planet of the Apps,’ and has begun casting, but no actors, please!

The show will shadow developers as they take their apps around to Venture Capitalists (VC) for funding, distribute and market those apps and receive hands-on guidance from some of the most influential experts in the tech community. Of course, the process is fraught with challenges, and the show will capture all the obstacles a developer or team has to wade through.

The show, for the first time ever, will give an insight into the life of a developer, and what goes behind developing an app that engages us day and night. Apple is accepting applications for the show until August 26 and is asking for video submissions, with team details, what you’re working on, how far along in the development process is and how much cash you need to bring it to market.

There’s another condition Apple lays down. Developers who don’t have an iOS, tvOS, watchOS or macOS app should not apply. Even though you don’t need to be part of Apple’s Developer Program, you can’t show up with an Android app.

Apple will start filming the show later this year in the Los Angeles area, and is expected to be wrapped up in early 2017. Planet of the Apps is in the process of scheduling events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and New York.
