'The run rate target is to double the calls in the next 12 months,' Maneesh Dhir, managing director of America Online Member Services India Pvt Ltd, told a news conference to mark the first anniversary of the Bangalore centre.

AOL, which employs about 10,000 customer support staff worldwide, has six call centers in the United States and one in Manila.

Company officials said the Indian center was aimed at adding to AOL's global force and not replacing its existing workforce in favor of cheaper outsourcing.
