NEW DELHI, INDIA: The telecom operators require energy to power and cool their BTS sites. According to studies, more than 30 per cent of the towers in India do not have access to electrical connection and normal outage in rural areas can extend from 16 to 20 hours which result in operators relying on diesel generator sets to keep the site functioning.

This has resulted in increasing energy costs and corresponding increase in CO2 emissions which is adversely affecting the environment.

The electronic components like BTS, battery etc. present inside the shelter generates heat, and need to be maintained at a certain operating temperature. Hence there is a necessity of running air conditioners to cool the equipments and maintain the desired temperature inside the shelter.

But operating air conditioners comes with their own set of difficulties. Air conditioners produce heat and carbon emissions which can devoid the purpose of installing green BTS at the sites.

Global Towers has come up with a green solution to curb this problem with its GloCool Cooling operating system. GloCool was also showcased at the recent Aegis Graham Bell Award nominations meet.
