Android-based low-cost tablet Aakash sold out

BANGALORE, INDIA: A week after opening online bookings for low-cost Android-based Aakash tablet, Datawind, the makers of the tablet, said the devises are sold out.

Priced at Rs. 2,500, online users had a chance to book Aakash tablet from the official site, with a delivery period of seven days.

The company had announced availability of 30,000 tablets online as pre-booking offer. Though the exact number of tablets booked on the website is not confirmed, overwhelming response is evident with Datawind closing the bookings within a week.

Sumanth, an IT employee working for an MNC in Bangalore said, "Although I have an iPad, I just wanted to experience the low-cost tablet Aakash. It's sad that the company had just 30,000 units to offer."

UbiSlate 7

Those who couldn't book Aakash tablet can now pre-order the upgraded version of Aakash Tablet, UbiSlate 7 from the official website.

Scheduled to be launched in January next year, Ubislate is priced at Rs. 2,999 and comes with an upgraded version of Android operating system.
