Android grows, RIM and Apple fall flat

BANGALORE, INDIA: Google's Andorid had put a great leap forward, by gaining significant market share amidst tough competitors.

Android is gaining significant expansion in the smartphone arena, with current market share of 27 per cent within a period of 6 months, said a new study by Nilsen Company.

The Nilsen stats show Apple's iOS seeing a rise and fall, with current market share of 28 per cent. Blackberry still leads the wagon, but with declining share of 33 per cent.

Google's Android surpasses RIM's Blackberry, when it come to upgrading or switching to a new device by smartphone users in the US.

According to a new study by the Nilsen Company, Android is able to hold 71 per cent of loyal users compared to 42 per cent of Blackberry, when it comes upgrading or switching to a new device. However Apple's iphone still remains a desired device, with nearly 90 per cent of current iPhone users, 21 per cent of Android users and 29 per cent Blackberry users considering to move to Apple.

Even with Apple's popularity, the leaping growth of Google's open source OS is noticeable.
