The solutions, as per a press release, allow companies to benchmark their energy and carbon footprints compared to industry peers, helping them develop the right sustainability strategy. An independent, not-for-profit organization, CDP has created the largest database of primary corporate climate-change information in the world. The global organization annually collects environmental data from thousands of businesses across the globe in a research effort that measures corporate carbon emissions, energy practices and other green initiatives. However, they needed a system that could analyze and report that information in a more user-friendly format.

WCI developed a combination of customized BI processes and reporting tools, based on SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand offerings, that enhance the standardization, consolidation and presentation of CDP’s data. Approximately 120 organizations are using the combined solution, including 59 companies listed in the Global 500.

“WCI merged CDP’s data from multiple source systems to enable structured reporting that could be segmented,” said Steve Hiltpold, solutions manager at WCI Consulting. “Thus, CDP could conveniently compare environmental information across numerous groups, segments and industries.”

Nigel Topping, Chief Innovation Officer for CDP, says the business intelligence system has taken its data analytics and reporting to a higher level.

“With the solution and processes based on SAP software that WCI implemented, we can now unleash the full power of our data. The cloud-based tool gives us a flexible, intuitive means to organize, present and share that information with our global audience,” Topping said.
