NEW DELHI: In an effort to expand market penetration and serve a wider

audience, AMD has spruced up its efforts to address the southern market. It

recently participated in the Meera Dynamics IT Fair held in June at Chennai for

this purpose.

Hugely popular among both the reseller community and end-customers, the fair

saw close to 20,000 people attending across three days. "It is a wonderful

event to showcase products," says, AMD Far East Senior Marketing Specialist

Rahul Singh.

AMD participated in the event with six of its Chennai-based partners and

arranged for on-the-spot financing for its customers. "Sales achieved at

the show were a positive point for us," added Rahul.

AMD officials claimed that hundreds of inquiries were generated as a result

of the event. There were instances where customers shelled out an advance to

book AMD-based systems. This is an indicator that AMD as a brand is now gaining

greater acceptance in the country.

The event marks AMD's first ever direct participation in an event outside

Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. It has also gone south for the first time with its

reseller training initiatives. The company trained close to 150 resellers each

at Chennai and Hyderabad in June. It is now working with the objective of

reaching out to more and more consumers with the involvement of greater number

of resellers in the process. AMD plans to continue participating in similar

events. "We intend to undertake a lot of street-level activity," says

Rahul.
