The cost of the e-governance projects is likely to cost around Rs 24.8 crore.

The civic body has proposed these plans in its annual budget draft for the year 2013-14 and it aims to implement these projects by 2014.

According to the surveillance project, CCTV cameras will be installed at civil hospitals, traffic signals, Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Services (AMTS) buses and routes, bridges and parks.

"There is a proposal to implement an online Comprehensive Complaint Redressal System (CCRS) per ward in the coming financial year. Under this, a unique ID will be generated for complaints related to all departments. With the help of this system, complainants can track the status and disposal of their complaints," said Municipal Commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra, as quoted in an Indian Express report.

All assets and buildings will be mapped as the AMC is planning on its GIS mapping. Underground utilities like water, drainage and storm water line, street lights and building plan permissions will be mapped. The GIS will also make property tax related information available.

"All the future work related to underground utilities including water, sewerage and storm water line, streetlights and building plans permissions will be available through GIS. Already, due to lack of data related to underground utilities, the AMC has been facing a lot of problems pertaining to digging and laying of pipes and cables," added Mohapatra.
