Amazon slashes its cloud web services fee

BANGALORE, INDIA: Cloud services provider Amazon Web Services (AWS), announced price cut for AWS cloud data transfer fee, reports Amazon Web Services Blog.

Effective July 1, 2011, customers need not pay for any inbound data transfer. Moreover, the service provider also slashed price in each tier for outbound data transfer and also introduced new pricing tiers for its high volume users.

"There is no charge for inbound data transfer across all services in all regions. That means, users can upload petabytes of data without having to pay for inbound data transfer fees," reads the blog.

AWS claims that thus on outbound transfer, users can save up to 68 per cent depending on volume usage.

Similarly, AWS also lowered prices for its Content Delivery Network, Amazon CloudFront and have added new pricing tiers in every region.

AWS believes that as a result of this pricing, users will see a reduction in costs of up to 43 per cent, depending on how much data is transferred each month.
