Through this partnership, Amazon India and Cashify employees, sellers and customers will be able to donate their old mobile phones online on the Cashify portal. Cashify will then organize the free home pick-ups of old mobiles then clean and refurbish the smartphones and provide the devices to the partner NGO, Goonj, which will be given to kids who can use them for their online classes.

Founded by Mandeep Manocha, Nakul Kumar, and Amit Sethi, Cashify is a re-commerce market-place, which offers an online platform to sell old, or used electronic gadgets – primarily smartphones, followed by laptops, tablets, desktops and gaming consoles.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to focus the stark digital divide, not only in the field of education but also in access to essential services. Amongst the most adversely affected are young people from marginalized communities,” Manish Tiwary, Vice President, Amazon India, said.

Amazon seeks to provide 20,000 digital devices to underprivileged young people, in partnership with over 150 large and small non-profit organizations, impacting over 100,000 students across India.
