Alok Tandon to head EMC India's channel biz

BANGALORE, INDIA: Information infrastructure solutions major EMC India, today announced the appointment of Alok Tandon as director, channels and strategic alliances in EMC India and the SAARC region.

In this role, Alok will be responsible for growing and driving the company's partners and alliances strategy in the region, said a press release. He will also spearhead EMC’s distribution and systems integrators strategy, deepening current partnerships and alliances and creating new ones to increase EMC’s footprint in other markets. Alok will report to Manoj Chugh, president, EMC India & SAARC.

EMC’s products, software and services are currently offered through over 200 partners in India. In September 2009, EMC announced that it had committed an additional investment of US$ 1.5 billion in India, taking its cumulative investment to US$ 2 billion in the country.

Commenting on the appointment, Manoj Chugh said EMC’s partner relationships have been extremely critical in ensuring the company's success in India.

“With our customers’ information infrastructure becoming increasingly complexity, as well as new growth opportunities in virtualization and cloud computing, it is ever important we invest in a strong leadership team to enable our partners to address these opportunities. We are happy to have Alok to lead our channel strategy,” he added.

Alok joins EMC from Oracle, where he was director, Education Business. Prior to Oracle, he held senior positions at companies including Polaris Software, SSA Global, DCM Data Systems and Wipro Infotech.

An IT industry veteran with over 26 years, Alok has extensive experience working across business units, engaging with customers, and executing channel plans.

RSA gets new Channel Manager

Meanwhile, RSA, the security division of EMC, announced the appointment of Amitabh Jacob as RSA Channel Manager for India and SAARC. In this role, Amitabh is responsible for fostering and managing RSA channel relationships as well as empowering channel partners to go to market with effective information-centric solutions from RSA that meet customers’ needs, said a press release.
