RAJKOT, INDIA : Alibaba.com, a small business e-commerce company, will focus on educating SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in the Engineering sector in India about the relevance of the Internet in finding global business opportunities.
As a part of this initiative, Alibaba.com has partnered with the Rajkot Engineering Association (REA) to address the need to adopt e-commerce as a cost-effective business tool in expanding their trade in overseas markets. The workshop, “The Power of E-commerce for SMEs”, was organised in Rajkot on February 25.
Alibaba.com has observed that Indian SMEs in the Engineering sector, which includes electrical products as well as machinery, have been receiving positive interest from global buyers.
As per Alibaba.com’s site analytics, machinery is currently the top industry for Indian Suppliers, measured by the number of buyer inquiries received from around the world.
Recognising the latent trading opportunities for Indian SMEs, Alibaba.com and the REA will aim to provide SMEs with tips on how best to harness the reach of the Internet in learning about and sourcing trading opportunities international markets.
Speaking about the initiative, Nayan Thakkar, manager, Sales and Customer Support, Alibaba.com India said, “Buying agents world-over have recognised that Indian SMEs offer engineering products that meet exacting global standards at cost-effective prices. And, it is now time for Indian SMEs to realise their trade potential by grabbing a share in international markets.
