Alcatel Shanghai Bell is now Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell

CHINA: Alcatel Shanghai Bell is changing its company name in English to Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co. Ltd (ASB in short) effective from today, January 8, 2009. 

Corresponding changes is also made to the company logo.  The new logo is shown here.

The reasons why the company name and its logo are changing today:

* On the merger day of Alcatel and Lucent, the objective has always been at the end to replace the Alcatel logo in the ASB overall logo name by the Alcatel-Lucent logo on agreement –and only- among ASB shareholders.

* The new company name is the inheritance of the company history. This association of Alcatel-Lucent and Shanghai Bell is about combining two solid foundations and evolving them into a new and exciting era for the telecoms industry in China.

* The new company name represents ASB’s positioning as a company rooted in China and with strong international resources.

* Stability and continuity: we believe our new name will allow us to proudly carry our heritages into our promising future

* The combination of these two brands creates something that is immediately recognizable, well-known and exciting.

* The new company name, especially its Chinese name, with the four Chinese characters, is easy to communicate and remember for Chinese people.
