BANGALORE, INDIA: Aladdin Knowledge Systems, a provider in security solutions, today announced that it has launched a Web security solution that offers advanced Web 2.0 application controls for popular social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook.

Through the latest update to Aladdin eSafe, businesses would now have the capability to not just block or allow access to social networking sites, but could actually control specific functions within these sites, said a press release.

Recent studies found that 85 per cent of malware is currently being distributed through Web 2.0 applications, said the release.

With the advent of Web2.0 sites and their growing use in the corporate environment, businesses are finding it difficult to cope with the openness these sites bring, both from content being passed back and forth, as well as from other security risks in the form of unscrutinized data that can turn malicious when rendered at the corporate browser.

The requirement to allow social networking sites as a way to empower and enhance certain business processes could now be balanced with the risks commonly associated with unrestricted access.

This latest release of Aladdin eSafe Applifilter now allows eSafe customers to restrict specific functionality on popular social networks, such as Facebook’s “Invite a Friend” or “Add a Friend,” or LinkedIn’s “Huddle Workspace” application.

The result is a level of control that enables the use of sites by employees without the risk of data leakage or misuse that comes from specific features, the release added.
