Airtel to launch 4G service in Karnataka

BANGALORE, INDIA: The 4G moment seems to have arrived in Karnataka with Bharti Airtel launching the fourth-generation (4G) wireless broadband spectrum in Bangalore today.

Airtel has kept its promise of launching the services in Bangalore within 30 days of its launch in Kolkata on April 10.

Bharti Airtel had won the 4G spectrum in four of India's 22 telecoms zones in the auction by paying Rs. 33.14 billion for spectrum in the Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kolkata and Punjab zones.

The company has selected Huawei as the network supplier for the Karnataka circle. In the next phase, Airtel will launch LTE services in Pune and Chandigarh.
