'Airtel Easy Music' launched

NEW DELHI: Airtel today announced the launch of 'Airtel Easy Music' across India.

Airtel claims that the Easy Music is a pioneering service for them across India. Director, Marketing and Communication, Bharti Tele-Ventures Limited, Hemant Sachdev said that Airtel's innovative service brings music closer to the mases.

With this service all the Airtel mobile users need to do is to walk in to an Airtel Easy Music outlet, choose their favourite song and the retailer will download the desired song in 60 seconds.

“The song could be either hello tune or ringtone depending upon customer's choice. With over one lakh music retail outlets, it will provide the largest music bank to all our customers within easy reach,” Sachdev said.

Airtel in association with WiderThan Co., Limited (Affiliation of SK Telecom), is offering the service. The retail music outlets are expected to grow to two lakh by June 2006.

Senior Executive vice president, WiderThan, Jay Kim said that Easy Music is a revolutionary product, which has never been attempted by any mobile operator in the world. He said that with the market for the mobile music set to grow exponentially in India, the product is set o redefine music retailing and will be a benchmark service for all operators.

Sachdev said that the customers can choose from over 18000 songs in over 20 languages across India. Indian music market size is around 1890 crore. Out of this digital mobile music market is around 900 crore, which is around 47 percent.

According to survey mobile music revenue would contribute around USD 9.3 billion by 2009.
