Airtel announces solns for SMBs

NEW DELHI: Airtel Broadband and Telephone services, today announced an Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) initiative to provide solutions like fixed line, mobile, broadband, long distance, and data and managed services. These will be offered in all major SMB hubs across India.

Airtel has tied-up with Nortel to bring a complete data, converged voice, mobility and security portfolio designed from the ground up to work together to address the specific needs of SMBs. These solutions are specifically designed to be easy to deploy and manage, Airtel said in a statement.

Manoj Kohli, president and CEO, Bharti Airtel Limited, said, "With the economy on a roll, the SMB segment in the country is witnessing strong growth and it will be Airtel's endeavour to be a partner in this growth story."

"With this unique initiative, we will bring our 'One Airtel' offering across voice, mobility, data and bandwidth to customers by operating in the intersection space of telecom, information technology and networking," he added.

Atul Bindal, president, Broadband and Telephone Services, Bharti Airtel Limited, said, "Our focus is on being a one stop shop for integrated solutions that meet all the requirements of SMBs and lead to enhanced efficiencies for these businesses. Towards this, we have a world-class alliance partner in Nortel and we will be looking at strategic alliances with other top companies in the IT and networking space to bring the best to our customers."

According to estimates, the SMBs in India spend over $15 billion on IT and Telecom requirements. Less than 20 per cent of SMBs that own PCs have access to high speed Internet and there is only one telephone line for 4.7 employees among SMBs in India.
