Airport Authority of India on ERP wings

PUNE, INDIA: KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd. announced the Go-Live of SAP ERP for the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

As a part of E-Governance initiative, AAI decided to implement ERP in HR, Finance, Material Management and Project System functions to improve productivity, efficiency and transparency under the project named "PARIVARTAN." KPIT was selected as the implementation partner in June 2012.

The SAP ERP implementation by KPIT Cummins covers 125 Airports across India and is being synchronized with the new financial year. The system will handle payroll accounting for nearly 19000 employees of AAI at various Airports across the country. The system will also be integrated with the legacy systems such as Electronic Tendering and Procurement System (ETAPS), Airport Information Management System (AIMS) etc. With this implementation the organization shall become process driven and substantially paperless, as stated in the announcement. Apart from automating the HR, Finance, Material Management and Project Systems functions, the system will provide "MIS dashboards" for senior management.

V.P. Agrawal, Chairman, AAI said, "This new enterprise software implementation will not only improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness but will also bring high level of transparency in the vital HR and finance functions within the organization. The ERP implementation will enable standardization of processes across all the AAI operations in India and will become an accurate and single source of information."

Airports Authority of India (AAI) manages 125 airports, including 19 international airports (3 civil enclaves), 7 custom airports (4 civil enclaves), 80 domestic airports and 19 other civil enclaves. AAI also provides CNS-ATM facilities at all the civil airports in the country. AAI control and manages the entire Indian airspace covering 2.8 million square nautical miles, which includes 1.05 million square nautical miles on land and 1.75 million nautical miles over the ocean. This includes 5 newly declared International airports at i.e. Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore, Mangalore, Varanasi and Lucknow. AAI says it is continuously engaged in the modernization and upgradation of airport infrastructure, both metro and non-metro airports including Tier-II & Tier-III cities.
