Air Deccan passenger traffic up 32 %

BANGALORE: Air Deccan has recorded a 32 percent increase in its passenger traffic in May 2007 as against May 2006. The airline carried over seven lakh passengers in May 2007, as compared to 5.33 lakh in May 2006.

The average load factor in May 2007 remained high at 85 percent and also witnessed an increase over May 2006 where the loads averaged around 82 percent. In the same period last year the airline operated 250 daily flights and has seen an increase with 350 flights at present, registering a 40 percent growth.

The low-cost airline provides the widest connectivity in India connecting 65 destinations as against 55 cities last May. Air Deccan has flown over 11 million passengers since its inception in the year 2003.

Samyukth Sridharan, Chief Revenue Officer and Head Marketing, Air Deccan said, “This growth in passenger traffic has largely been driven by rapid route and capacity expansion by Air Deccan. We have added 100 new flights and 10 new destinations to our network map since May last year increasing the daily seat capacity by 34 percent.”
