AICTE to use Google Hangouts for chairman’s address on Education Day, Nov. 11

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), established to ensure high quality technical education, would use Google+ & Hangouts to address more than 1 Lakh students from 10,000 colleges in India on the occasion of National Education Day on Nov 11.

National Education Day is celebrated on November 11th every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Azad. Nation pays rich tribute to his invaluable contribution to modern education and social upliftment.

Welcoming such an initiative Prof. S.S Mantha, an eminent academician and chairman of AICTE, said: "Education for all and employment to all should be the new mantra for all Indians. I am very impressed with the role technology plays in improving the quality of education. I am looking forward to an exciting and interactive session with students through Google+ Hangouts on November 11th."

The event will be organized by Turning Ideas Solution, through its venture Turning Talent is focused on driving adoption of next generation technologies to improve education. The company is Google partner for education and help universities adopt Google technologies to enable learning in future. The organization also helps in setting up Ideas Center at Higher education colleges / Universities where they will help students to convert innovative ideas into commercially viable solutions.

All the participants would be given an opportunity to pre-submit the questions to be answered by the Chairman and select few would be answered live. Pre-screening and moderation will be done by Turning Ideas Solutions. The address will be broadcast from Google office in Gurgaon from 11 a.m. onwards on 11th Nov 2013. A support desk has been setup at aicte@turningideas.com to address any pre session technology challenges of the audience. Google Plus page has been created to provide updates on the event and other AICTE related activities.

According to Ashish Mittal, Mentor, Turning Ideas Solutions, "Future of learning will depend on driving forces of sharing, collaboration and access technologies anywhere. Technology can help students graduate from being academic ready to industry ready and help them distinguish between bright ideas and right ideas. We aim to provide technocrats with a platform to conduct a session for better employability."

A Google spokesperson commented, "Google+ Hangouts will act as a catalyst in bridging distances and lead to better communication and collaboration in education."
