Adtran acquires virtual WLAN solution provider

ALABAMA, USA: Networking solutions provider Adtran Inc. recently acquired Bluesocket, a privately held Burlington, Massachusetts-based provider of virtual wireless network solutions.

This acquisition will strengthen Adtran's position in the wireless solutions space, for enterprise and campus environments.

“Bluesocket is a recognized leader in virtual wireless LAN solutions,” said Rick Schansman, senior vice president and general manager, Adtran Enterprise Networks Division. “Bluesocket’s Virtual WLAN solutions combined with Adtran’s extensive portfolio  LAN and unified communications solutions will enable Adtran to advance seamless wireless and wired communication across major enterprise and campus environments.”

Adtran claims that by combining its enterprise networks portfolio with Bluesocket's solutions it can bring in highly integrated, carrier-class, seamless wireless/wireline end-to-end voice, data, video and mobility solutions with virtual control.

“Adtran’s resources and extensive portfolio of enterprise networking solutions along with its vast resources and channels to market will enable us to fully execute on delivering our vision of virtual mobility,” said Mads Lillelund, CEO, Bluesocket. "Coupling Bluesocket’s revolutionary virtual wireless LAN architecture and solutions with a proven formula for success, the combined companies will be able to quickly deliver a full suite of industry-leading borderless and fully integrated mobility network solutions for campuses and enterprises around the world."

Moreover, this will also enable service providers to offer new cloud-based wireless services where both management and control are centralized in a secure data centre, adds the company.
