Adaptec plans to invest $10 m in India

HYDERABAD: Adaptec India Pvt. Ltd., a Hyderabad based provider of high-speed

storage networking solutions plans to aggressively scale up its facilities to

develop next generation Storage area Networking (SAN) solutions and

compatibility lab in the next calendar year. "We are going to invest about

$ 10 million for setting up the compatibility labs and high-end ASIC design

facilities at Hyderabad," said Adaptec India Pvt. Ltd. managing director,

Raghu Allamsetty.

Adaptec India's major emphasis will be to develop next generation iSCSI

(Internet Small Computer System Interface) technology based solutions and

compatibility lab across OEM platforms and operating systems. "Adaptec

India center is going to be the hub for addressing Asia pacific and Japan

markets. We are also looking forward to opening small satellite centers outside

Hyderabad if the needed," he explained.

ISCSI technology now enables new levels of information protection to

customers who could not afford similar solutions before. Currently the Indian

center employs 35 engineers and the company is planning to scale up the

operations to more than 150 employees by the end of next year.





In June 2001 Adaptec International for a consideration of $ 150 million acquired
Platys Communications. Primarily, Adaptec International has three broad

divisions- storage networking division, iSCSI and server peripheral unit and the

peripheral unit. Adaptec merged Platys with its storage networking division,

which works towards bringing storage to the Ethernet.
