ADAG forays into IT services biz

BANGALORE, INDIA: The Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG) plans to foray into IT consulting and services business.

The new IT services arm Tech Reliance would provide consultancy, business process outsourcing and software development services, among others.

The company would look at providing services to industry sectors such as telecommunications, financial services, utilities, entertainment and healthcare.

According to reports Anil Ambhani has personally handpicked a team of IT professionals to lead this initiative, which includes current employees working in Reliance ADAG. Tech Reliance will operate from four centers and the group is looking at Bangalore as a major center for its IT growth plans.

The company intends to take on existing IT biggies, including Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, IBM and Accenture, by providing similar services in the country. The ADAG is among India’s top three private sector business houses with a market capitalization of Rs 100,000 crore and net worth to the tune of Rs 27,500 crore.

The interests of the group range from communications (Reliance Communications) and financial services (Reliance Capital Ltd), to generation, transmission and distribution of power (Reliance Energy), infrastructure and entertainment.
