Actuate delivers personalised analytics and insights through customer-developed, BIRT-based visualisation solutions as well as its own predictive analytics and customer communications management solutions. When used together with Cloudera Impala, the open source-powered Actuate platform delivers unprecedented scalability, security and access in both the analysis and the organisation of data, from virtually any source and any volume of data.

Cloudera Impala is an open source Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) query engine that runs natively on Apache Hadoop. The Apache-licensed Impala project brings scalable parallel database technology to Hadoop, enabling users to issue low-latency SQL queries to data stored in HDFS and Apache HBase without requiring data movement or transformation. Impala is integrated from the ground up as part of the Hadoop ecosystem and leverages the same flexible file and data formats, metadata, security and resource management frameworks used by MapReduce, Apache Hive, Apache Pig and other components of the Hadoop stack.

With Actuate connected to the Impala query engine, developers and IT departments now have the ability to create interactive visualisations, for analysis that leads to game-changing business insights on any data from Hadoop.

"With Actuate and Cloudera Impala combined, scale truly meets scale," said Jeff Morris, VP of Product Marketing for Actuate. "Users can finally benefit from unprecedented scalability of the data itself, as well as matching scalability in the delivery of personalised analytics to customers, partners and employees. The result is speed of thought insight that drives profitability and brand loyalty."

The Cloudera Certified Technology program - of which Actuate is a long-standing member and through which has been previously certified on CDH4 - makes it simpler for Apache Hadoop technology buyers to purchase the right cluster components and software applications to extract the most value from their data. Clusters that leverage Impala, alongside Cloudera Certified Technologies such as Actuate, operate with reduced risk and lower total cost of ownership. Cloudera Certified Technologies have been tested and validated to use supported APIs and to comply with Cloudera development guidelines for integration with Apache Hadoop.

"Cloudera Impala helps enterprise customers realise value out of Big Data faster than ever and we're committed to helping enterprises achieve the most from their Big Data initiatives," said Tim Stevens, VP, Corporate and Business Development, Cloudera. "With Actuate's recent certification of their BIRT-based suite on Impala, Apache Hadoop technology buyers can trust that they will gain clear value since the software has been tested and validated to work with CDH, our 100% open source and enterprise-ready distribution of Apache Hadoop."
