BANGALORE: Acer India is launching Altos Café, an ongoing technology forum to discuss the latest developments in the server and storage market. Altos Café will give decision-makers the opportunity to physically network with like-minded peers in the industry and exchange technology viewpoints. The first round of Altos Café was held on September 3, 2004 in Bangalore. Subsequently, Altos Café events will be held at other locations including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

This is the first time that such a platform has been organized by a hardware vendor, where the focus is on the latest trends in information technology. The highlight of the Altos Café is that invitees can listen and participate in a discussion that is technology-centric and not vendor focused.

Harish Kohli, General Manager, sales and marketing, Enterprise Product Group, Acer India (Pvt.) Ltd. said, "The server and storage market is very dynamic, where technology and customer demands change at a rapid pace. Altos Café is a key forum to communicate and ideate, considering the changes that occur in this market. We are convinced that this informal networking and information dissemination session will keep participants abreast of the latest developments in the industry."

Hitachi Data Systems will be Acer's technology partner, in the first round, and will present technology trends in enterprise storage.

Since its inception 18 months ago in Australia, Altos Café has expanded its end user base by over 100 percent. By using Altos Café as a vendor-neutral technology session rather than a marketing exercise, attendees comment that the Altos Café provides them with an unbiased view of the industry.
