The Intel SingleDriver enables driver consistency among desktops, including

Acer’s Veriton range, which is shipped with the Intel PRO/100 VE Network

Connection, and the TravelMate notebooks, as well as the Altos servers.

With this technology, various network adapters can be added or removed, as

network connections need to be changed without having to locate and install new

drivers. The Intel SingleDriver is also compatible with any installed Acer

product using Intel Fast Ethernet adapters.

These adapters are compatible with all major network operating systems,

giving users more option when purchasing Acer products. Other than the Veriton

range, the popular Acer TravelMate will also be shipped with the Intel 82559

Fast Ethernet Controller for users to be able to connect any time in LAN

environment.

Sean Conlon, Asia-Pacific marketing director of Intel Communications Group,

said, "Together with Acer’s Altos server range, which will utilize the

Intel 82550 Fast Ethernet Controller and Intel 82559 Fast Ethernet Controller,

the Acer products will offer users unparalleled LAN stability and performance

while offering home users easy and affordable connectivity to broadband Internet

access."

"This agreement with Intel will enable Acer to offer users a more

compatible and stable LAN environment and significantly reduce data flow bottle

necks," said Jim Wong, president of Acer’s IT product business group.
