Aadhaar, NPR card can be used as ID proof

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Now, Aadhaar card and the smart card issued by the Registrar General of India under the scheme of National Population Register can be used as an alternative to the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

The Election Commission has allowed the voters to use these two alternative identity cards along with 21 other documents listed by the Commission.

This could help in establishing identity during the Karnataka Legislative Assembly's poll scheduled on May 5. Overseas voters have to produce their original passport for identification at the time of voting.
