MUMBAI, INDIA: Technology solutions provider for digital pay-TV, NDS has launched a new solution for the Indian cable TV market, the company announced today.

The firm's VideoGuard Express delivers robust conditional access system (CAS) security and has been pre-integrated with a set-top box and electronic programme guide (EPG) ready for fast deployment.

Sue Taylor, vice president and general manager of NDS Asia Pacific, said: "NDS VideoGuard Express is the right solution at the right time. Many cable operators across India are looking for a CAS solution they can implement now to support their pay TV business and comply with government regulations to deploy CAS. VideoGuard gives a low-cost solution now, and an upgrade path for operators to implement new features and services in the future."

VideoGuard Express builds on NDS proven conditional access technology for pay TV. The system includes the VideoGuard Express headend and patented smart card technology, NDS said.

VideoGuard Express incorporates an upgrade path to implement MediaHighway middleware, enabling advanced pay TV and interactive services including NDS fully customisable EPG, call centre based pay-per-view (OPPV) and NVOD.

Fast software upgrade options ensure a simple, future-proof solution for operators and their subscribers, NDS added.
