NEW YORK, USA: PC-vendor Lenovo marked its entry into value server market with the launch of three dual processor ThinkServers, ThinkServer RD230, RD240 and TD230. The servers are priced at $999, $1,399 and $829 respectively.
The servers offer Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 series processors, which is ctouted to be 60 percent faster than legacy servers. Also Read: HPC server market growth expected in 2010: IDC
Tom Ribble, director, ThinkServer Product Marketing, Lenovo, said: "Instead of offering customers expensive add-ons, we built in manageability and performance features, like remote management and hot swappable drives, that growing businesses need. And we did this while keeping prices extremely affordable."
The RD230 and RD240 rack servers come with:Built-in RAID for data protection on the RD230 Web-enabled remote management tools.Swappable hard drive storage.A DVD writer.
The RD240 rack comes with up to eight hard drives and eight TB of storage and dual power supplies.
