BANGALORE: Tata Communications, a telecommunication service provider, announced the opening of an Internet Data Centre, a three tier data centre in Eastern India. The launch of the new data centre services in Kolkata is part of the company's $2 billion investment plan over the next three years.
This latest addition from Tata Communications roll out of world class IDC infrastructure would enable customer access to reliable, secure data centres, which are connected to Tier 1 India and global network backbone.
The data centre built to Telecommunications Industry Association( TIA) 942 standards, is spread across 6,000 square feet. The centre would tap not only East India based companies but also those who service customers in the East, allowing them to locate their data close to their customers for better service quality.
Abid Qadiri, vice president, Data Center Service, Global Managed Solutions, Tata Communications, says: “We are extremely happy to enter the Eastern India market, making us the only data centre service player with presence across the metros. The Eastern India market is a relatively untapped market and we hope to act as an enabler for attractive investment opportunities in this region through our services.”
He added that now customers would no longer need to invest in setting up captive data centres or locate it outside the region. They would offer the same stringent SLA and quality assurance which they would expect from them.
