NEW DELHI, INDIA: NComputing, a provider of desktop virtualisation software and hardware, announced that Will Poole, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Unlimited Potential Group and former head of the Windows client business, has joined NComputing as co-chairman and member of the board of directors.
He brings 25 years of knowledge from the personal computer industry to NComputing as well as recent experiences co-leading Microsoft’s unlimited potential initiatives. Poole will serve as a global ambassador for NComputing in developing countries and support expansion efforts in new markets and geographies.
He will also draw on his numerous experiences with leading-edge and disruptive technologies and business models to help guide NComputing’s corporate strategy.
“NComputing has a practical and proven technology that breaks the affordability barriers that most schools, businesses and governments in developing economies face. Working with NComputing allows me to pursue my passion for addressing some of the most important global development issues via sustainable and eco-friendly technologies, including NComputing’s innovative virtualization solutions built on Windows,” said Poole.
Poole joined Microsoft in 1996 through the acquisition of eShop Inc., a company he co-founded in 1991 and ran as president and chief operating officer. Prior to eShop, Poole spent five years at Sun Microsystems, working in senior marketing and engineering management roles. At Microsoft, Poole led various business development efforts, ran the Windows Digital Media Division for three years, and in 2003 assumed leadership of the Windows Client Business.
For the past two years, Poole co-led Microsoft’s Unlimited Potential Group, which spearheads a companywide effort to create social and economic opportunity for the next 5 billion people - those in the middle and bottom of the world’s “economic pyramid” - with a focus on transforming education, fostering local innovation, and creating jobs and opportunities.
