BANGALORE, INDIA: Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced that in Q2 2009 HP secured 35.9 percent of the Indian server market share in terms of revenue. HP was also the clear leader in terms of units shipped with 32.8 percent market share for Apr-June 2009 quarter, as per IDC India Quarterly Server Tracker.

HP led the non-x86 server market garnering 39.5 percent market share of the total factory revenue for Q2’09. In the non-x86 Unix server market HP was the market leader. While the market grew at only 0.8 percent, HP saw growth at 20.4 percent quarter-on-quarter from Q109. In high end enterprise servers, HP continued its dominance with 55.1 percent market share (total factory revenue) making HP as the leading server platform for mission critical computing environments.
In the x86 market, HP extended its leadership into the eleventh consecutive quarter. In terms of unit shipments for the x86 categories for Q2 2009, HP led the market with 33.45 percent market share in unit shipments. HP also led the x86 category in terms of factory revenues with 32.56 percent market share. One out of every two blade server sold in India during Q1 2009 was a HP ProLiant Blade server with HP holding a share at 50.06 percent in terms of units shipped.
In the India 4-socket server category, HP secured 65.84 percent market share in terms of units shipped in Q1 2009. HP shipped more than double the number of servers of the nearest four market players. HP also led in terms of factory revenues with 59 percent market share. HPs dominance continued in the 2-socket server category with 36.45 percent market share.
