BANGALORE, INDIA: IBM announced that it had been ranked No. 1 in the Indian non-x86 UNIX server and external disk storage market in terms of factory revenue for Q1 2009 (JFM 2009 quarter), as per IDC’s Asia/Pacific Enterprise Server Tracker, Q1 2009, June 2009 release.
As per the findings IBM was the only vendor to attain a positive year-on-year revenue growth of 4.3 percent (Q1 2009 over Q1 2008) in the India non-x86 UNIX server market. IBM was at No. 2 position in the India x86 Server market with a 22.7 percent share, in terms of factory revenue during Q1 2009 and a 17.5 percent share in terms of unit shipments during Q1 2009.
Moreover, IBM registered a substantial gain of 18 points year-on-year (Q1 2009 over Q1 2008) in the external disk storage market segment in Q1 2009 (JFM 2009) with a 33.1 percent share in terms of factory revenue.
