BANGALORE, INDIA: Storage major Dell released a range of new server, storage and networking solutions for SMBs.
With a focus on phenomenal rise in data and storage needs, Dell has introduced new servers, Dell PowerEdge T110 II and R210 II, and PowerVault NX3500 and MD 3600i.
The company have already made available PowerConnect 7000 and PowerConnect 5500 series of networking switches for new server and storage offerings. Also Read: Facebook set to share server data centre designs
Antonio Julio, executive director, Worldwide SMB, Dell said that, SMB is one of the most critical area for Dell, and India is an important market in Asia region. Julio informed that India has close to 1 mn SMBs, and the company is also investing in its India facility to tap the huge market opportunity.
"The SMBs requirements in India are no different from China and the US. We help SMBs to grow and offer support to their business needs. He informed that, the company is introducing unified storage systems in its servers category that have ability to work with different protocols and environments.
The company said that one of the key drivers to introduce these solutions is theĀ phenomenal growth of data. "Our objective is to design best possible infrastructure solutions for customers to run their business. The new servers and storage-based solutions are scalable and we are launching them due to the explosive data growth," said Julio.
Dell said that the new products and solutions are built with a focus on the challenges that SMBs face today. "For SMBs, security is one of the major concerns, and have lack of IT expertise. They also want to reduce the number of individuals," he said.
Julio also said that there is a lot of confusion around cloud computing amongst SMBs.
IT major is optimistic about the channel and said that it works closely with its partners, who are important to their business, and it will continue to invest in channel. "There are markets where channel helps us to reach new customers. If a channel identifies business opportunity, it can block it and Dell will not go direct," Julio said.
The company believes that SMBs is one of the fastest growing business segments in India, and said that it will continue to focus on them for next three years. "IT/ITes is the largest contributed area to Dell's India revenue. SMB manufacturing is another growth engine, and there is a huge potential in retail as well," said Satyen Vyas, director, Medium Business, Dell India.
