BANGALORE, INDIA: In a move to reinvigorate its server business, PC manufacturer Acer announced a server products for data centre environment.
Acer also announced the launch of products under its two new classes of server categories, Blade (AB Series) and Gemini (AW Series), along with its its existing range of Tower (AT Series) and Rack (AR Series) server categories. Also Read: Acer unveils new series of notebook
The servers come with Intel Xeon Processors and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 support.
Acer will bring out 17 new server models, including AW 1000, AW2000h (Gemini), AT110 F1, AT150 F1, AT350 F1 (Tower), AR160 F1, AT310 F1, AR180 F1, AR320 F1, AR360 F1, AR380 F1 (Rack), under its four server categories.
S Rajendran, CMO, Acer India, said: "Acer, which already has a strong presence in the government, education and banking industry for its Tower (AT Series) and Rack (AR Series) severs, will look into the SMB and HPC space with its new class of blade and Gemini servers.
The company aims to double its current market share of seven percent by the end of the year.
"Acer's Gemini is specifically designed for optimized density and can be used for applications that are memory and compute intensive. All the server categories give 80plus power efficiency and some even go up to 90 plus," added Rajendran.
