BANGALORE, INDIA: McAfee Network Security Platform has achieved the top spot for market share for Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), according to Infonetics Research. The leadership ranking reflects McAfee’s commitment to network security.
"This achievement underscores our relentless approach to network security,” said Rees Johnson, senior vice president and general manager, Network Threat Defense at McAfee. “For over six years, McAfee has continued to invest in the Network Security Platform to assure customers receive the best protection possible. We are committed to unparalleled threat protection, network performance, and operational excellence – all of which are externally validated by independent reviewers, labs, analysts, and most importantly, customers. Achieving the number one spot is a result of that commitment.”
McAfee introduced its groundbreaking, vulnerability-based Network IPS in 2003, and ever since has maintained a keen focus on developing the world’s best network protections for customers. For the past 14 consecutive quarters McAfee has achieved double-digit, year over year revenue growth.
“Under extremely challenging market conditions, McAfee has continued to gain share in the in-line Network Intrusion Prevention market,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for network security at Infonetics Research. “McAfee has grown in both revenue and share for the past 8 quarters, and consistently met customer demand for security efficacy, high performance, and intuitive management. The recent release of the M-series Network IPS, including the 5 and 10Gbps sensors, has given them an edge in performance and helped them push into the data center – an area that Enterprises and Service Providers are eagerly looking to protect.”
McAfee has engineers around the globe dedicated to the development of the Network Security Platform. Additionally, a team of 350 plus McAfee Avert Labs researchers provide real-time vulnerability research to power the platform. The Network Security Platform is available in form factors ranging from 100Mbps for the branch office, to over 10Gbps for the data center and network core. McAfee recently expanded its customer base to include enterprise data centers, telecommunications service providers, and large government entities.
