CUPERTINO, USA: Trend Micro Incorporated found that for most consumers,
Internet security software is like tedious dental visits - compulsory, but needed.
Memory consumption that slows down computers, high prices and lengthy scan times were top reasons, why nearly half of the respondents surveyed report to be disgruntled with the security software choices offered on the market and believe that there has to be a better way to protect their computers than what's available.
Annoying pop-up messages on the computer screen and complicated programs that are difficult to use added to consumers' disenchantment. Nearly 30 percent of those surveyed said that most security products do not live up to their manufacturer's marketing promise.
For Trend Micro's 2009 consumer suites, powerful security does not have to impede smooth performance. The recently launched Trend Micro Internet Security and Trend Micro Internet Security Pro have new features that are designed to confront consumers' main dislikes about security software:
Customers will experience up to over 40 percent lower memory usage and and nearly 50 percent faster boot-up time.
With the state aware feature, scans and updates happen only when it's convenient for users - no inconvenient in-product messages while they are watching a video, conducting a PowerPoint presentation, or playing a computer game.
Spam blocking is improved - regardless of volume, spam gets blocked without adversely affecting computer performance.
One-streamlined-installation step.
The products are powered by the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network, a cloud-client security infrastructure that correlates Web, and email threat data by using reputation technologies that compare threats against in-the-cloud threat databases. This means that customers receive real-time protection against the latest Internet threats while enjoying online activities to the fullest.
